Apparently, 100 million Americans are too young to remember that phrase — or the significance of Todd Beamer’s exclamation on United Flight 93 right before the plane went down in a field in Pennsylvania.
This July we celebrated 250 years since America declared herself an independent nation.
Today marks 25 years since America’s security was rocked off its feet, when citizens woke to the war on terror.
Many of us (me included) will never remember that awful day.
But September 11, 2001 had a bright side. We marveled at heroes. We witnessed true bravery. The firefighters who raced back in to save more souls. Accounts of ordinary individuals like Todd Beamer who did what they could, where they were.

To me, remembering 9/11 isn’t so much a call to stand up as a proud American. Rather, today reminds me that I’m significant. My life matters.
And so does yours.
