What I Love about “The Love Note”

You know when you read the first paragraph of a book and you JUST KNOW you’re in love with the book, the author, the characters (and hopefully the plot and the ending, although that is yet to be seen!)???

Well, that happened to me a few minutes ago…

And then I had to finish the chapter because … Well, I’m a huge romantic — AND A SCIENTIST — and Politano has SUCH BEAUTIFUL WRITING, so lovely, so … mystical, I got caught up right away.

And then, after the terrible trouble — which was perfectly emotional, gripping, and deep in POV, by the way — we encounter **THE LOVE NOTE** … And, mind you, this is still chapter 1!!!

“… that you may walk through your day knowing someone loves you and finds you remarkable. Dearest, if only you could see yourself from where I stand — how brave and unstoppable you would become.”

!!!

I’m certain this book will ruin not only every other romance I ever read but my love life as well. Although I have not finished the book, I’m VERY CERTAIN this giddy, breathless feeling will not abate in the next 400-some pages — and the glowing 5-star rating will remain as well!

Oops! So now might tell you what Joanna Davidson Politano’s “The Love Note” is about (beyond the first lovely impression!)

(Note: all links are affiliate links. But “The Love Note” is Kindle Unlimited!)

This is a story that DEFINES LOVE (how to love, what love is, etc!) woven in the story of a young woman in England in 1865 who yearns to be a doctor. As for the love note, it creates an upheaval. (The start of the fiasco reminded me a little bit like the death of the jester in one of the stories in Arabian nights. — It’s okay if you don’t know what I’m talking about. Not important.) This story is NOT a mystery, but there is intrigue! A lovely romance

There are several POV’s, the first-person protagonist, her love interest, another couple, a married couple, an older married couple … and also the handmaid! (Whew! Yes, that’s NINE point-of-views! And I might have missed someone!!!)

And somehow, with such a deep message and winding plot, Politano BRILLIANTLY allows the story to read easily. A lovely romance! And I’m SO PROUD that she mentions God and His involvement.

Favorite line: “Filled hearts keep beating.”

My takeaway: Love doesn’t hinder but gives a person wings to fly. Like a wild horse, a person who is being loved may at first appear to have given up her (or his) freedom, but the truth she is (or he) now has someone who will go after her (or him!) in the storm. (Awww!)

Okay, I’ll quit gushing now. JUST GO READ The Love Note by Politano ALREADY!
